What goes wrong at parties, and how we plan for it.
Gate-crashers
The address gets posted on social media and three times the guest list shows up.
One controlled entrance, a guest list or wristband check, and an officer with your authority to turn people away politely.
Underage drinking
The host carries the risk when someone under 21 is served.
ID checks at the door and wristbands for verified 21-and-over guests, so servers know who can be served.
Fights
One argument between two guests can end the night for everyone.
Officers watch for trouble early, separate people calmly, and walk them out before it turns physical.
Noise complaints and police calls
Crowds spill into the street, neighbors call, and the party gets shut down.
An officer on the street side keeps guests off the sidewalk and cars, watches the volume, and helps you end on time.
Medical emergencies
A guest who has had too much is left alone to sleep it off.
Officers call 911 without hesitation, keep the way clear for paramedics and stay with the person until help arrives.
Damage and theft
Guests wander into bedrooms, garages and cars.
Closed areas stay closed, and a roving officer watches the driveway and parked cars.
How many officers your party needs.
A starting point. We give you a firm number after hearing about the house or venue, the guest list and whether alcohol is served.
| Guests | Officers | Typical cost, 5 hours |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 75 | 1 to 2 | $175 to $750 |
| 75 to 150 | 2 | $350 to $750 |
| 150 to 300 | 3 to 4 | $525 to $1,500 |
| 300 to 500 | 4 to 6 | $700 to $2,250 |
Add an officer when alcohol is served to a college-age crowd, or when the property has a second entrance or a large parking area. Holiday and last-minute bookings sit at the higher end.

Common questions
How many security guards do I need for a party?
Start with one officer for every 75 to 100 guests, and add officers when alcohol is served, most guests are college age, or the house has more than one way in. A 100-guest backyard party usually needs two officers. A 300-guest college party usually needs four.
Can your officers check IDs at the door?
Yes. Officers check government ID at the entrance and can wristband guests who are 21 or older, so your servers can tell at a glance who may be served. Serving alcohol responsibly is still the host's job, and our officers do not pour or serve.
Will security shut down my party?
No. Our job is to keep the party from being shut down, by controlling the door, keeping the crowd off the street and keeping noise in check. If police order a party to end, our officers cooperate and help clear guests out safely.
Can you cover a party this weekend?
Often yes. Call (619) 765-2222. If officers are free we confirm the same day, and if not we tell you right away so you can make other plans.
Our chapter or venue requires licensed, insured security. Can you send proof?
Yes. We send our state license information and a certificate of insurance to your chapter, house corporation, national headquarters or venue, usually the same day.
Should party security be armed or unarmed?
Unarmed officers are right for nearly every private party. Consider an armed officer only for a specific threat or large amounts of cash on site, and check with your venue or landlord first.
