Founder and Managing Director, MT Security & Investigations
Michael Tew brings over 15 years of distinguished law enforcement experience with the Chula Vista Police Department to his role as Founder and Managing Director of MT Security Guards & Private Investigations. During his tenure with the police department, Mr. Tew consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication and effectiveness, earning numerous accolades for his service. These honors include the Outstanding Officer Award (1991), the Life Saving Award (1996), and the Auto Theft and Recovery Award (1997), the latter recognizing his repeated success and expertise in resolving complex auto theft cases. These awards represent just a selection of the commendations received throughout his career, highlighting his commitment to public safety and his proactive approach to law enforcement.
Beyond his extensive field experience, Mr. Tew is deeply committed to the advancement of the security profession through education and mentorship. He serves as the Lead Instructor for the Security Academy at Grossmont College, where he imparts his practical knowledge and industry insights to aspiring security professionals. Furthermore, his expertise is valued as a member of the Advisory Board for the Security Academy at Grossmont College, contributing to the development and refinement of curriculum to meet the evolving demands of the security sector.
Prior to establishing Security Officer Training Center (SOTC) and MTSI, Mr. Tew was an esteemed instructor for the National Training Center (NTF) under the guidance of the late Ralph Scully, a respected figure in the training community. In honor of Mr. Scully’s legacy and his profound impact on the industry, Mr. Tew recently founded SOTC. This new venture is dedicated to providing high-quality security officer training, reflecting Mr. Tew’s ongoing commitment to professional development and the highest standards of service within the security field.
Since establishing MT Security Guards & Private Investigations, Mr. Tew has leveraged his investigative acumen and extensive network to become an invaluable resource in the San Diego County area. He has a proven track record of successfully contributing to the resolution of numerous complex cases, demonstrating a keen understanding of investigative strategies and a meticulous approach to uncovering critical information. His expertise is frequently sought by attorneys who rely on his skills to navigate intricate legal matters and build strong cases. Mr. Tew takes considerable pride in his hands-on approach, personally managing the majority of investigative work to ensure the highest levels of discretion, accuracy, and client satisfaction. His areas of specialization include sensitive domestic investigations and comprehensive criminal defense support, providing clients with dedicated and results-oriented service.
